Wellington Young Voices are inviting children (6 to 14+ years old) to register for Term 2.

- Face masks are still required at rehearsals.

Covid-19 Update (5 February 2022)
WYV recognises that group singing carries increased risk when it comes to the transmission of Covid-19, due to the vigorous expulsion of aerosols. It is for this reason that the Ministry of Education has published guidelines curtailing group singing indoors while NZ is in the Red setting of the Covid Protection Framework, since schools are unable to restrict entry and their communities will be a mix of vaccinated and unvaccinated students.
The New Zealand Choral Federation advocates full vaccination for choirs, with additional precautionary measures such as mask-wearing, increased ventilation and social distancing. While the Ministry of Education guidelines do not apply to activities outside of school, we are taking a cautious approach to operating Wellington Young Voices in Red, especially as WYV brings students together from a range of school communities, thereby introducing another risk factor.
We believe the safest way to operate while in Red is to:
limit numbers to vaccinated children 10 years and over
wear masks indoors
do non-singing activities indoors, such as basic theory, ear training, rhythm games, humming etc
only sing outdoors
practise social distancing.
If your child is under 10 or has not yet had their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, we will put their membership on pause until we are out of the Red setting.
Our policy regarding vaccination is as follows:
All students 12 years 3 months and over must be fully vaccinated. Evidence of a current My Vaccine Pass must be provided to the choir administrator
All students under 12 years 3 months must have had their first dose of the vaccine before starting rehearsals, and provide assurance that they will have their second dose as soon as practical after they are eligible. Evidence of the date on which vaccine dose(s) have been administered must be provided to the choir administrator in the form of a My Covid Record screenshot or download.
Our vaccination policy also applies to all WYV staff.
