(Exceptions to this are at the discretion of the WYV music team.)
What you need to know about the audition:
The audition process is designed to be as relaxing and child friendly as possible! We want your child to feel that they have done their best in a supportive and encouraging environment.
The WYV music team consisting of Mark Stamper, Joanne Hodgson, and Rosemary Russell, will be with your child during their audition. Each audition is up to 5 minutes long.
Parents are asked to wait in the Atrium while auditions are taking place in the Auditorium.
The music team will take them through a few vocal exercises to see what their range is, and where their voice is at in regards to their age. They will be asked to sing the New Zealand National Anthem. The words and music will be given to them a few weeks prior to their audition.
Audition outcome:
You will receive notification from the Administrator of the outcome of your child’s audition. Please allow up to five working days once auditions are complete. We understand that your child will be anxious to find out quickly. The Music Director will be working hard to deliver the results as soon as possible.
If a child does not meet the requirements after the audition process, the music team will discuss the singer’s options with them and their family. These options could include singing in Korimako or waiting for another time to re-audition.
